Success comes to those who knuckle down, put in the time and do the work. None more so than Tygervalley Store Manager, Bianca Lewis-Williams, a true Pentravel legend. Bianca started at Pentravel way back in 2001, when most of today’s Newies were still in primary school.
After kicking off her Pen career at the Canal Walk branch, she became the Store Manager at Cavendish Square just a few years later. Bianca moved to George in 2006, where only two months later she discovered she was pregnant and had her year contract cut short when she welcomed Jenna into the world. Jenna is now 11 years old, and Bianca is 11 years wiser – both as a mom and as a senior consultant in the Pentravel family.
We sat down with Bianca and got her to spill the beans on her career story at Pentravel.
What has been your absolute travel highlight at Pen?
There are so many, but I would probably say my Highclimbers trip to America, hosted by Trafalgar is one of my top highlights. We visited all the national parks and ended up in Las Vegas. My favourite spot to visit was Bryce Canyon; the sunrise was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen. I also loved the Grand Canyon; from the beginning to the end, it was just awesome!
Highclimbers is an incentive offered by Pentravel to those up-and-comers who reach their sales targets.
If money or time was no option – where would you travel to next?
Hmm, now you’re asking me! I would probably say South America – I have always wanted to visit. I would love to see Rio, do the waterfalls, then the Amazon, then go to Peru and travel down the west coast.
What has been the most challenging aspect of your journey to the top?
Time sacrificed is one of the tougher things. What you put in is what you get out though! My family has gained out of it at the end of the day, a real win-win situation. I feel like I’m teaching my child the value of hard work and that is so important to me.
What would you say to a young Newie just starting out at Pentravel?
Patience is key! Don’t put too much pressure on yourself to hit all your targets overnight. Give yourself six months to a year to really get over that first hurdle of success. Give yourself time and be kind to yourself; it’s a tough job. After 17 years, I’m still learning on a daily basis.
Do you have an absolute favourite moment in the last 17 years?
It has to be the first time walking up on stage, being named the Number One Shop! It took 10 years to get there, and I was crying like a baby!
Bianca is a true reflection of what it means to be part of the Pentravel family. Her success, growth and constant desire to learn have made her who she is today; a fun-loving and record-breaking senior Pentravel Store manager!
