The Zanzibar Life: An Educational

There’s nothing quite like island life than Zanzibar life! This is indeed true for two of our fantastic travel consultants, Roa and Nisha, who recently jetted off to The Spice Island, courtesy of Thompsons Holidays, to enjoy some sun, sea, culture and cuisine.

As part of our ever-growing family of Pentravel experts, Roa and Nisha have enjoyed what every hard-working agent will: the value of an educational trip that opens one’s eyes to the wonders and realities of international destinations, particularly destinations they are likely to send their clients to someday.

And Zanzibar did not disappoint!

Roa had this to say: “When you think of Zanzibar, the first things that come to mind are cocktails, beach life and relaxation, but this destination has so much more to offer. Zanzibar will leave you feeling relaxed, humble and in awe of its beauty.”

The team started their trip in Stone Town, an ancient city filled with historical significance, beautiful wood and stone doors, and winding streets filled with friendly people and the odd donkey or two.

“We experienced the amazing spice market and friendly people, ending with powder sand beaches and turquoise water,” said Roa, adding “it was a fantastic experience; it left me feeling enriched and walking away with memories that will fill my heart day by day.”

Nisha, whose first time it was in Zanzibar, had this to say: “I heard someone once say, they wished they could capture all their memories and put them into a glass bottle… could I then please have a few bottles, jars and a couple of books? And even after filling all of those, it still wouldn’t be enough to capture the full experience of this beautiful island.”

One of the benefits of an educational trip for travel agents is to really get a feel for the destination. This adds a great deal of personal insight when sharing the experiences with clients, who may want to know which part of the Old Town is truly worth visiting, or whether they should wear closed or open shoes in the marketplace.

And of course, being there in the flesh really puts the cherry on top. Nisha says, “from beautiful churches and mosques to historical sights and archaeological remains, pictures could never do the island’s beauty any justice!”

Roa and Nisha were both thrilled with their experience and enjoyed the full package (like any client would!): beautiful 5-star hotels, fantastic day tours, and knowledgeable local guides and drivers; and left feeling enriched with all they needed to know about Zanzibar.
